One Room Challenge Spring 2015 Week 1

It's time for another round of the One Room Challenge! Linda from Calling it Home has once again put together an awesome group of 20 interior designers, decorators and bloggers with the goal of transforming one room in only six short weeks. They will be updating their progress every Wednesday (click over to Linda's blog if you missed the Week 1 kick-off), but anyone else who wants to participate can link up on Thursdays and join in on the fun. This is where I come in — I will be participating in what is now my third consecutive challenge. (You can read about my first two ORC makeovers here and here.)

For this Spring round, I initially had plans to do my dining room but at the last minute decided to do my front porch instead. That decision was actually inspired by the Home Depot – I was writing this post on outdoor decorating for the Wantfolio Canada blog when I realized that my small outdoor space is much more important than my dining room, seeing as the weather is going to be (hopefully) warming up soon. So without further ado, here is my design plan:

The only outdoor space I have to relax in at home is my front porch and it faces a major street so I'd like to add some curtains for privacy. As you can see, my design is mostly neutrals and wood tones, accented with green plants, a hit of colour and pattern in the coffee table, and I will paint the porch ceiling of in black and white stripes. My plan is to give the small space a cozy, beachy, cabana vibe. This ad from the Ralph Lauren Point Dume collection has been on my mind for a while now and was the first image that came to mind when I decided on doing the patio as my ORC room, so it serves as my inspiration.

Check back here every Thursday for the next 5 weeks for progress updates leading up to the big reveal! And let's not forget to check in on my fellow linking participants here

Also make sure to follow the 20 sponsored participants every Wednesday - some of my favourite bloggers/designers are in this group so I will be following along very closely!
