Red Carpet Style - Oscars 2016

Today I'm sharing my favourite and least favourite looks on red carpet from the 88th annual Academy Awards. So without any further pre-amble, let's get right to the women and men who's finery caught my attention (for better or for worse!).

Best Dressed

Charlize Theron was ravishing in Dior Haute Couture. The deep plunging neckline was perfectly accented by the long Harry Winston necklace. I'm sure the dress would have been stunning on its own, but the jewellery really enhances it.

Saoirse Ronan in Calvin Klein Collection. You need to see the front and the back for this one. I thought her hair styled down in loose waves really worked for her and with the dress.

It must have been the colour settings on the TV I was watching, but Olivia Munn's Stella McCartney dress looked red to me! An orangey-red, mind you, but still. I was shocked to see pictures the next day. It's clearly orange. I would have preferred the dress if it were red, but it's still one of my favourites for that one-shoulder detail.

I loved Sofia Vergara's navy Marchesa gown. Also love how she styled her hair.

Priyanka Chopra, star of Quantico, in Zuhair Murad. Gorgeous dress, and it looked beautiful on her.

This next dress had me conflicted. At first I was turned off. But the longer I looked at this Armani Privé dress while Cate Blanchett was interviewed, the more I realized how radiant she looked. How does that saying go, the woman makes the dress? On anyone else, this dress would have been a disaster. Cate Blanchett radiates so much beauty and poise, eventually the beauty of the dress caught up with her.

WORST DRESSED
There weren't too many dresses I didn't like this year. A couple of my least favourites aren't even worth posting here because, while not my taste at all, I can at least still appreciate the beauty that others would see in them. However, there were two that need to be called out because there is just no redeeming them.

Heidi Klum - what was this dress made of, candy floss?! I'm sure every single past contestant on Project Runway who has ever been at the receiving end of her criticism and judgement was thinking the same thing: "The fuck is that???" Maybe she lost a bet. Let's hope.

I really like Kerry Washington so I was disappointed that she showed up to a formal event wearing her sex dungeon costume.

Can't forget the men! Common always looks incredibly dapper, no surprise there. And Superman! Henry Cavill - looking sharp!
