Today I want to expand upon one of my health & wellness goals that I wrote about on Monday: drink more water. In order to maintain good health, it's important to keep the body well-hydrated. I've especially become an advocate for making my first glass of water of the day one that is infused with lemon. The health benefits of lemon water wasn't a new concept to me, though I only started to put it into practice in my daily routine after reading about it in nutritionist Joy McCarthy's book Joyous Health. A glass of lemon water first thing in the morning before breakfast prepares various functions within the body to do their work absorbing nutrients and eliminating waste and toxins. The reason it took reading Joy's book to get me drinking lemon water every morning was because she doesn't just recommend it as a good healthy option, she also explains why it's so important and details specifically how it aids the body. I prefer to understand why I'm doing something before I do it. :)
