Bold Bathrooms

I'm designing a friend's bathroom and as I search for products and inspiration online, my mind keeps straying to my own bathroom. It's in serious need of a makeover. When I purchased my house four years ago, the only thing I did to the bathroom was paint the walls and the door white so that they were no longer a hideous, flat mossy green colour. It's obvious that the floor and ceiling were also green too, but the real estate agent must have convinced the seller to at least paint them white before putting the home on the market. And it was not done properly, because the floor paint started to peel shortly after I moved in. The grout is like a miniture version of the Grand Canyon - all peaks and valleys, excellent for trapping mold if you're into that sort of thing. There are missing wall tiles behind the mirror where someone started to rough-in a medicine cabinet but gave up halfway through the job. I don't even want to talk about how bad the shower head is. There's a lot more that bothers me in this tiny space but I think that's enough for now. Needless to say, I'm in need of a change. I want to go bold, with a striking wallpaper, something on the dark side. Add in a marble counter and brass faucets and I'll be happy. Unfortunately, I don't have the time or money to do this right now, but a girl can dream. And plan! Here are some inspiration photos of the direction I'd like to take.

Everything about this bathroom is perfection. This is a photo I took of the bathroom in my room at The Marlton hotel:
