It’s time for another season of the One Room Challenge and I’ll be joining in on the fun once again! The One Room Challenge, or ORC for short, is an online decorating challenge created by Linda of the blog Calling It Home as a way to help motivate other decor bloggers to finish decorating or renovating a room in six weeks. There are 20 featured/sponsored participants, and hundreds more who join in as guest participants. We blog about our progress weekly as we work towards completing the room of our choice. I’ve participated as a guest in five previous seasons but sat the last few rounds out. For my very first ORC, I turned my master bedroom into my home office — that was in the spring of 2014, and now, four and a half years later, I’m coming full circle and once again tackling another home office makeover, because my home’s actual master bedroom has been taken back as our principle bedroom and I therefore need to re-create a workspace in my home. I’ll be using the small third bedroom, formerly a mixed-use storage room/guest bedroom, to be my office. When taking back the master bedroom, I shoved my desk in the corner of the third bedroom and I practically have to climb over all sorts of things just to get to it. It’s really not functional right now, and definitely lacking in style. My plan is to get it set up to be a functional and practical workspace that also inspires me to be creative. I also intend to use a portion of the room as a studio space for photography. Today I’m introducing the space by showing you how it looks in its current state, and I hope you’ll follow along and watch as it becomes a chic, modern and inspiring office! Oh, and did I mention that I’m due to give birth in two weeks?! That’s how you put the “challenge” in the One Room Challenge! Wish me luck!
Here’s an around-the-room view of the space:
Stay tuned to find out my plans for the space and to see how it all progresses. I’m sure I’ll have lots of entertaining stories to share as I insanely attempt to work on this room at the same time as I learn how to be a mom for the first time! In the meantime, check out the 20 featured participants here, there is some incredible talent among the group, and you’ll also want to have a look at the rooms my fellow guest participants are working on here.
